Malaysia
2013
We relocated to Western Australia at the end of 2012, and this meant that the prospect of short holidays in Asia were now more feasible. Not long after our move, Danny's brother and his wife announced that they were heading to Kuala Lumpur for six months for work. We had never been to Malaysia, so this gave us a great excuse to take some time off and explore a new country. We immediately started looking into how and when we could fit in a holiday.
Our trip was organised for the start of October, which was the rainy season but it fit in best with our work schedules. As soon as the flights were booked I started researching everything there was to see in Malaysia. Unfortunately, there was a lot, and with our limited time frame we needed to make some tough decisions. After much discussion it was settled that we would fly straight to KL to spend a few days with the family. Next, we would head to the highlands for mountain scenery, trekking and cooler temperatures. Then it was on to Penang, the street food capital, a top priority for Danny. Lastly, we would enjoy a couple of leisurely days on Langkawi, hitting the beaches and experiencing island life.
