Hiking in Hong Kong
2018+
I moved to Hong Kong mid-2018 and I had one thing on my mind: hitting the trails. Running or hiking, it didn't matter, I couldn't wait to get out and explore the vast countryside that makes up much of this city. After living in the concrete jungles of Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City for the last few years, having the opportunity to step on a trail within easy reach of the urban areas had me more excited than a kid at Christmas. If I could become a full time hiker/explorer of the hundreds of routes on offer and earn a decent living, I would do it. Alas, I had to get a real job, but every chance I get I'm in a place where I'm surrounded by greenery and can't hear anything but the sounds of nature.
Here are my journeys on these trails, some fantastic, some not so great. If you're looking for something to do in Hong Kong, or want to explore a new trail, have a read of the stories below. If you have any recommendations I would be glad to hear them!

A note about the times stated: these times are for walking only; no running was involved. Total hiking time includes short stops (e.g. taking hundreds of photos, quick drinks and snacks). It does not include longer breaks, such as sitting down for lunch, or standing under a shelter for an hour and a half waiting for a storm to pass over.
